The City of Syracuse is celebrating Fire Prevention Week from October 6 to 12, 2023, in honor of the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. This year’s theme is “Smoke Alarms: Make Them Work for You,” which emphasizes important actions for keeping homes safe. Deputy Mayor Owens participated in the closing event alongside the Syracuse Fire Department, where he officially declared the week as Fire Prevention Week.
