DoD Halts Cornell Semiconductor Cybersecurity Study

Cornell University researchers have been investigating vulnerabilities in semiconductor supply chains that could expose the U.S. military and economy to cyberattacks. The project aimed to identify weaknesses and develop fixes to secure the supply chains. However, a stop-work order issued by the U.S. Department of Defense in April halted the research.

Sarah Kreps, a professor of government at Cornell and an Air Force veteran, stated that national security and battlefield security are at risk. The project was part of Cornell’s ongoing efforts to safeguard national defense through improved cybersecurity measures.

Additional details about the project and the associated risks have been reported by Cornell University.
