At Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York, Nancy Gibbs L.H.D. ‘25, a former Editor in Chief of TIME magazine, presidential historian, and Harvard professor, delivered the 2025 Commencement Address. In her speech, Gibbs emphasized the importance of how individuals choose to spend their time and give their attention. She stated, “The phrase ‘time is money’ is imprecise. What matters is how you choose to spend your time and give your attention. This is a source of power we have not even begun to fathom.” Gibbs also noted that the current generation is uniquely equipped to handle the challenges of a 21st-century information landscape, describing the situation as a massive generational disruption with information serving as the primary "battle surface."

During the ceremony, Hobart and William Smith Colleges awarded Gibbs an honorary degree along with the Elizabeth Blackwell Award in recognition of her distinguished career and lifelong service to humanity.
