The Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) has launched a holiday foster challenge aimed at providing temporary homes for pets during the busy travel season. The initiative encourages local residents to become temporary foster parents from now through the holidays.

PAWS reports that the challenge is off to a solid start, thanks to individuals who have already stepped up to take in pets. With more people traveling during November and December, there is an increased need for foster availability. The organization is looking for individuals who will be home for the holidays and can either pet sit for other foster pets or commit to fostering a pet until they are adopted.

Types of animals in need of foster homes include those with medical or behavioral challenges, stressed shelter animals, kittens, nursing mothers, and pets awaiting reunion with their owners through PAWS’ Safety Net Program.

Interested individuals can initiate the fostering process by emailing foster@phillypaws.org or visiting their website at phillypaws.org/foster for more information.
