Bangor PD Renovates Facilities, Boosting Efficiency

Bangor, Maine – The Bangor Maine Police Department has recently renovated its facilities, with one of the most noticeable changes being the exchange of locations for the roll call area and the patrol area.

In the new setup, the roll call area remains the starting point for officers' shifts. It is where they select the part of the city to patrol, choose a cruiser, and receive updates about recent events. Meanwhile, the patrol area has been reorganized to serve as a dedicated workspace where officers can make telephone calls, access information, and write detailed reports.

A large-screen smart TV has been retained in the newly designated patrol area. Officers use the display for training purposes, including watching short training videos, viewing presentations, checking Google Maps for traffic control or parade routes, and accessing webcams. One of the available webcams offers a live feed of a food pantry for deer, where troughs are filled regularly throughout the winter. The feed also shows other wildlife activity, such as turkeys, and provides multiple camera views.

The department’s changes are intended to provide a more efficient workspace with adequate lighting, ergonomically correct furniture, and minimal distractions to help officers complete their paperwork and prepare for calls.

The Bangor Maine Police Department will continue to use the revamped patrol area to support its daily activities and operational needs.
