Wintry Mix Hits New York, Pennsylvania: Travel Caution

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for parts of New York and Pennsylvania starting this afternoon until 7 AM EST Saturday. The National Weather Service in Binghamton, NY, announced that mixed precipitation is expected to bring additional snow and sleet, with accumulations between 1 and 3 inches and a light glaze of ice.

In New York, Chemung and Steuben Counties will see the wintry mix. In Pennsylvania, the advisory covers Bradford, Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Wyoming Counties. The forecast calls for a mix of snow, sleet, and possibly some freezing rain this afternoon, continuing through the overnight hours and ending early Saturday morning.

Motorists are expected to encounter slippery road conditions, and the hazardous conditions could impact Friday evening commutes. Road safety officials in Pennsylvania have advised drivers to adjust their speeds and use caution while traveling.

For additional details on road conditions, motorists in New York can call 511, while those in Pennsylvania can check with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation or Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission for the latest information.
