Fuquay-Varina High Offers Made-To-Order Omelets

Staff Report / apexlocal.org

Students at Fuquay-Varina High School in Apex, North Carolina, have a unique breakfast option available on Wednesdays—made-to-order omelets. This initiative, created by Cafeteria Manager Linda Winn, utilizes the school’s induction cooking equipment to provide fresh omelets.

Students can customize their omelets by choosing their preferred toppings, and the cafeteria staff prepares them on the spot as students wait. Fuquay-Varina High is one of only two schools in the Wake County Public Schools district that feature induction cooking.

Recently, the cafeteria set a new record by serving 52 omelets for breakfast in one week. This program is part of the WCPSS Child Nutrition initiative.
