Nonprofits Graduate from Social Enterprise Incubator Program

Staff Report / LAXlocal.org

The Los Angeles County Economic Opportunity Department has announced the graduation of 20 nonprofit organizations from its first-ever Social Enterprise Incubator program. This initiative, powered by Team DEO, REDF, CNM SoCal, and Nearby Consulting, aims to help nonprofits develop social enterprise business models to generate new revenue streams.

Thirteen of the graduating nonprofits are planning to launch their social enterprises within the next three to six months, which is expected to have a lasting positive impact on their communities. The announcement was celebrated by Los Angeles County officials, including Teams Mitchell and Hahn, who have actively supported the Economic Mobility Initiative.

The DEO has set a goal to assist 10,000 businesses in the upcoming year through education, technical assistance, training, and capital. They encourage social enterprises to get certified with the Office of Small Business in order to access contracting opportunities with DEO and over 40 County agencies. More information can be found on their official platforms.
